Cool is easy. Quiet is the craft.

Every system below will hold a room at 23 °C. What separates them is where the noise, the pipework and the money go. An oversized unit short-cycles and roars; an undersized one never stops. The tables are for the models we fit most; your quote lists yours.

§ 05 · Procedure

p. 05 / 10

A proper service. From cover off to sign-off.

Around ninety minutes for a high-wall unit, with care you can follow at every stage.

Procedure 5.0 · A visit in four phases

  1. Assess & protect

We listen to your concerns, check the system and protect the space around it.

  2. Clean behind the cover

Filters, coil, fan and drain receive attention, with the work matched to your system.

  3. Run & check

The system is reassembled and tested. We compare its performance before and after the service.

  4. Record & hand over

You get the findings, any follow-up recommendations and a signed service record.

§ 06 · The record

p. 06 / 10

You get the numbers, not a nod.

Every visit ends with a one-page record: temperatures, pressures, amp draw, what was cleaned, what was found, and what we would do next and what it would cost. It is emailed as a PDF before the van leaves and kept against the machine’s serial number, so the next technician — ours or anyone else’s — starts from facts.

Signed at the door.

Every service record ends with the customer’s signature and, if they want one, a line in their own words. Three are printed here as written, job number attached.

§ 09 · Troubleshooting

p. 09 / 10

Symptoms, causes, and what to do first.

Most of what a split system does wrong, it does slowly and with warning. Find the symptom, do the first thing listed, and call if it does not clear. Nothing below needs a tool.

Section through a wall: indoor head and drip tray inside, condensate drain running through the wall to a drip point outside, with a sag in the drain before the wall marked 01 INSIDE OUTSIDE DRIP 1:100 FALL TO DRIP POINT 01
Fig. 9.1 — Water inside usually means a blocked or back-falling drain.01 · sag

Caution

If the unit trips its breaker more than once, leave it off and call. Resetting repeatedly can burn the compressor windings.

The drain is blocked or has lost its fall, so the tray fills and overflows the front of the head (Fig. 9.1). Switch the unit off at the remote, towel the wall down, and book a clean. We flush the drain, flow-test it with a litre of water, and re-fall it if the sag is in the run. It is not a leak from the refrigerant circuit; that would show up as warm air, not water.

Something not listed? Describe the symptom on the phone. Most questions are settled there; if yours needs a visit, the diagnostic call-out is $129 and is credited against the repair.
