On our workmanship
What we cover
Five kinds of repair, described plainly.
If your problem is on this list, start a request against it and the form will already know what you picked. Anything outside it goes through Something else, and we will say honestly whether it is ours to do.
-
01 / Leaks
Water where it should not be
Visible leaks from taps, joints, exposed pipework, fixtures or toilets — traced back to the source rather than patched at the puddle.
Start a leak request -
02 / Pipes
Pipework that has given up
Damaged, noisy, corroded or poorly connected pipework, including the joints someone else got wrong.
Start a pipe request -
03 / Taps
Taps that drip, stick or wobble
Dripping, stiff or loose taps, worn cartridges and washers, and replacing a tap when repair is the more expensive option.
Start a tap request -
04 / Toilets
Cisterns, flushes and blockages
Leaks, running cisterns, weak flushing, faulty mechanisms and blockages — including concealed units that need panels off first.
Start a toilet request -
05 / Drainage
Drains that will not clear
Slow drains, recurring blockages, unpleasant odours and backed-up waste water, indoors and out to your boundary.

Fifteen years of other people’s leaks.
We started with one van and a rule that has not changed: find what actually failed before quoting to replace anything. Three engineers now cover Manchester, Oldham, Stockport and Warrington — as far as we can go and still reach a burst pipe the same day.
We do not fit bathrooms, touch gas or go on roofs. That work goes to people who do it every day.

“Rang at half eight about a leak under the sink that had been dripping into the cupboard all night. Someone was here before lunch, found it was the trap rather than the pipe, and charged me for the half hour it took. No drama, no upsell.”

“Our downstairs loo had run for months and two other people told us it needed replacing. Northgate swapped the fill valve and the flush mechanism in under an hour and it has been silent since. Honest about what did not need doing.”

“Recurring blockage in the kitchen waste that kept coming back. They cleared it, then showed me the fat build-up further along and explained what was causing it rather than taking the money and leaving. Third time lucky with plumbers.”

What people keep mentioning
-
We find it before we replace it
The trap rather than the pipe, the cartridge rather than the tap. Replacing the whole fitting is the last answer, not the first.
-
You hear the price on site
The number is agreed before anything is touched, and the bill matches it. No invoice you have not already seen.
-
The same plumber throughout
The plumber who diagnoses your job is the one who finishes it, and the one you ring if something is not right afterwards.
-
Left the way we found it
Floors covered, old parts shown to you before they go, and the waste leaves with us.
Before you book
The terms, before anyone turns up.
Everything below is what we commit to in writing, so there are no surprises on the doorstep. If something here does not match what you were told on the phone, the written version wins.
- Service area
- M, OL, SK and WA postcodes — Manchester, Oldham, Stockport and Warrington. We travel up to 12 miles beyond that for half-day jobs and longer; the request form checks your postcode before you send.
- Credentials
- City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ in Domestic Plumbing and Heating. CIPHE registered, membership 812004. Water Regulations (WRAS) trained for backflow and mains connection work.
- Insurance
- £2 million public liability, renewed each April. Certificate available on request before we start.
- Pricing policy
- £45 call-out covering the first 30 minutes, waived if you go ahead that visit. £30 per half hour after that, parts quoted before fitting. The full price is agreed on site and nothing starts until you say yes.
- Parts and workmanship
- 12 months on our workmanship. Parts carry the manufacturer’s own warranty, usually one to two years, and we hand over the paperwork on the day.
- Excluded work
- No gas appliances, boilers or flues — those go to a Gas Safe engineer, and we will pass you one. No roofing, and no shared or sewer-side drains, which are your water company’s responsibility.
